Rohit Gupta is the Founder of Reeloid, a vertical, mobile-first OTT platform built around the future of storytelling on smartphones.
A writer, director, filmmaker, entrepreneur, and technologist, Rohit’s journey sits at the intersection of creativity and technology. A chemical engineer by education, he began his entrepreneurial career in the technology sector, building digital solutions for assessments and examination systems. This experience gave him a strong foundation in creating scalable technology platforms, understanding user behaviour, and using technology to solve real-world problems. His experience spans over 20 years, ranging from technology to directing and producing short movies and documentaries.
Alongside technology, his passion for storytelling led him into writing and direction. His creative work spans documentaries, short films, and original fiction. His first documentary won the Best Documentary Award, and a short film won Best Direction and Writer at the Rajasthan International Film Festival, One of his short films was selected for the Cannes Short Film Section. Writing and directing over 15 short films gave him an understanding of short-form storytelling.
In 2021, Rohit created his first vertical drama, beginning his exploration of a storytelling format designed specifically for smartphones well before vertical micro-dramas became a major entertainment trend.
He is also currently working on a major documentary with the Indian Navy,INSV Kaundiniya , project tweeted by even Honble PM, chronicling the recreation of a 5th-century ship using traditional shipbuilding techniques.
These experiences across technology, writing, filmmaking, and entrepreneurship eventually came together in Reeloid.
Reeloid is being built as an ecosystem dedicated to vertical dramas, micro-series, short-form fiction, and mobile-first entertainment, where technology and storytelling work together to create a more personalised, immersive, and engaging viewing experience.
From building technology platforms to creating his first vertical drama in 2021, and now building Reeloid, his journey has been driven by one belief: technology may change the screen, but great storytelling is what keeps audiences watching.
